cl_downloadfilter Command Help & Examples
In both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Counter-Strike 2, any player can toggle the in-game developer console and make use of commands to customize their gameplay for a variety of reasons. Say you want to practice smoke lineups and easily clip through walls to the location your utility should hit? There’s a command for that. Want the round to never end even after multiple hours? It’s definitely possible!
Now, what if you want to specify exactly what files to download? That’s where the cl_downloadfilter command comes into play.
How Do You Use The Command?
To use any command in the game, you must first access the in-game developer console which is usually bound to the ~ key on your keyboard. In the event your keyboard doesn’t have this key, you can bind the console to open upon pressing any available button you have. Since cl_downloadfilter is not considered a cheat command, there is no need to input “sv_cheats 1” on the console. After this, simply type or copy and paste the command “cl_downloadfilter <Filter>” to the console.
Before hitting the enter key, however, you must input either all, none or nosounds. The “<Filter>” portion of the command refers to what download filter you want. cl_downloadfilter all lets all files be downloaded, cl_downloadfilter nosounds doesn’t allow sounds, and cl_downloadfilter none makes sure nothing is downloaded.
When Can You Use The Command?
You can use the command in any kind of game, whether competitive, casual, or your own private server. The cl_downloadfilter Command, however, is currently a CS:GO exclusive command since it is not yet available for use in CS2. This means that as of June 2024, the cl_downloadfilter Command is not usable by anyone.
