Whenever you start a Competitive, Premier, or FaceIt match in CS2 or CSGO, there is a minute or two of warmup. During this time, players can warmup their aim, but it also allows for the rest of the players to connect to the server.
However, once all players are connected to the server, the warmup immediately ends and the match starts.
If you want to create your own server, but give players a bit more time to warmup before you start shooting at each other, you can use the warmup CSGO command. To do that, you’ll need to enable the developer console first. Here’s how you can do that:
How To Enable Developer Console
To enable the developer console, first, start CS:GO or CS2. Then, head into Settings Menu and into the Game Tab. Now look for the “Enable Developer Console” and select “Yes” in the dropdown menu.
And that’s it! Now, with the console enabled, you can use the warmup or any other command you want.
Using The Warmup CSGO Command
To use the CSGO command to start the warmup, first, start a match through the Practice map. Once you’re loaded in and everyone else joins, you can open the console by pressing “~” and then type “mp_warmup_start” and hit Enter. This will reload the map and start a warmup with a default timer of 2 minutes.
If you want to extend the warmup, you can use the “mp_warmuptime [number]” command. The number you type in represents exactly how many seconds the warmup will last.
You can also use the command “mp_warmup_pausetimer 1” to enable the warmup indefinitely. Whenever you want to start the warmup countdown again, just input the same command with a 0 at the end instead of a 1.
Ending The Warmup
If everyone is ready to start the match, just type “mp_warmup_end” and the map will reset to start everything from scratch.
Other Useful Warmup Commands in CSGO And CS2
There are other commands that can adjust the warmup, here is a list of them:
- mp_endwarmup_player_count [number] – adjusts how many players need to connect before the warmup automatically ends.
- mp_warmup_offline_enabled [0 or 1] – if set to 1, this command enables the warmup option if you’re playing offline/against bots.
- mp_warmuptime_all_players_connected [number] – adjusts how much time will be left of the warmup when all players are connected.
- mp_warmuptime_match_cancelled [number] – not really useful for private matches. The command sets how much time until a match ends after it’s abruptly interrupted (VAC ban).
Conclusion
And with these commands and examples, you should now be able to have full control of the warmup time in your servers. For any extra adjustment you want to make to your private server, check out some of our other guides.
