Best CS:GO Surf Maps

Playing CS:GO competitively can be quite exhilarating, especially when you manage to climb a couple of ranks within a short period of time. However, the rank-up process can also be rather daunting, considering that your focus has to be intact throughout the entirety of each match. Sometimes, the eagerness to progress through the ranking system can even take the fun away from the game.

In order to effectively combat this, players often turn to some of the more laid-back modes available in the game. One of the modes that has been making considerable noise within the CS:GO community is the surfing mode. Even though playing on a surf map doesn’t contribute to your rank in any way, it sure will provide you with the time of your life.

With that in mind, join us as we explore the general concept behind CSGO surf maps and share some of our favorite ones!

What Are Surf Maps In CS:GO?

Surf maps are custom-created obstacle courses that take advantage of a physics engine glitch players use to glide along curved and inclined planes. When playing in surf mode, you are challenged to gain enough momentum to get past ramps and over gaps that might lead to your falling demise.

When you begin your search for surf servers, you’ll quickly come to the realization that this is not an official game mode created by Valve. CSGO surf maps are entirely designed and built by the community. However, they still retain enough popularity as if they were a part of an official game mode created by the developers.

Our Favorite Surf Maps

Regardless of whether you are just a rookie or a seasoned veteran in the game, there is a surf map for you! Each CSGO surf map maintains its own difficulty level, so it’s pretty safe to say that the more you surf, the better you become at it and the more challenging obstacles you can take on. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite surf maps.

surf_beginner

If you’re still trying to get a grasp on the surfing mode and haven’t yet mastered the mechanics, surf_beginner is the perfect place to start. As the name suggests, the map is created for beginners trying to get a good feel of the physics, as well as learn the basics of maintaining speed and jumping above obstacles.

The map is comprised of a few stages, and the difficulty increases as you progress through them. Even though it is optional to complete this map, surf_beginner is a good place to start polishing your pre-strafing skills, as this will be a valuable mechanic you will need in more advanced CSGO surf maps.

surf_summer

Designed by the one and only CS:GO pro team – Fnatic, surf_summer is a beautifully made map with impeccable attention to detail. When you enter the map, you’ll be greeted with all kinds of summer-themed backgrounds, such as beaches, playgrounds, palm trees, volleyball courts, and roller coasters, to name a few.

There are a couple of levels in surf_summer. Each level is more complex than the one before, bearing a different theme and aesthetic. Most frequent surfers will always recommend this map to you if you haven’t tried it out by now.

surf_messa

Surf_mesa is an underground mine-themed map where players surf on top of glowing tiles gently lit by glowing crystals alongside the track. We would place a high-difficulty mark on this map, mainly because there aren’t different stages that you can progress through. This means that every time you fail, you are spawned at the very beginning.

surf_kitsune

Another delightful surf map made by the CS:GO community is surf_kitsune, which has created quite a light show for its players. Featuring 9 different stages, you will be greeted with a spectacular neon color scheme regardless of which one you find yourself in. Every attempt at the stages will be timed, so you can always jump in and try to beat your previous record.

surf_utopia_v3

Last but not least, we have surf_utopia_v3. Considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing CSGO surf maps, this map features a unique color scheme varying between blue, red, and gray. Surf_utopia_v3 is designed so that both beginners and experienced surfers can equally enjoy it, so make sure to make the best of it!
