sv_airaccelerate Command Help & Examples

Have you found it hard to stick to the ramps when you take a break from all the shooting and join a surf map in CS:GO instead? Surfing is a fun alternative way to enjoy CS:Go, but it is no less technical than playing the standard version.

What lots of people struggle with during surfing is setting up the right commands to make it effortless while coming off as a champion surfer. Out of all the commands involved, the sv_airaccelerate, which is responsible for csgo air acceleration, is the one to master first.

Why is CS:GO Air Acceleration Speed Important?

When you’re surfing a map in CS:GO, one of the key elements is jumping. Jumping skills for CS:GO players extend beyond simply pressing the jump key. There is height, rotation, jump speed, and jump acceleration to think of, all of which can be controlled.

The control over the speed with which you move through the air. If it is set with a higher value, you will move faster through the air once you jump, compared to having the  sv_airaccelerate command set to a lower value.

Using this csgo air acceleration command only affects your speed once you’re airborne and does not impact the speed of the jump itself.

How does the sv_airaccelerate Command Work?

You can change the csgo air acceleration values using the developer console. The command you use is sv_airaccelerate, followed by a number. The default value is set to 12. For example, if you want to increase your jump acceleration, you can input ‘sv_airaccelerate 150‘ into the console.

Alternatively, you could assign a negative value to the command. This will result in an instant change of direction once you jump, taking you backward even though you’re pressing the forward key.

Setting up the sv_airaccelerate command usually requires admin rights, as it is often used as part of a cheat setup, even though it is not a cheat command. Here is an example of one of the most common CS:GO surf setups:

  • sv_cheats 1: Activate cheats
  • sv_accelerate 10: Increase your walking and running speed.
  • sv_airaccelerate 800: improve your speed in the air, giving you more maneuverability.
