sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time Command Help and Tips

In CS2 and CS:GO, when a player goes AFK, it will drop the bomb. By default, it’s set at 15 seconds, and if you’d like to modify it, you need to use the sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time command.

This command allows you to modify this setting according to your requirements. You can make AFK players drop the bomb after 5 seconds, or after 2 minutes. Your choice.

In this guide, you’re going to learn how to use it, so you can start customizing the configurations of your matches as you please.

What is the sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time Command?

As we have already seen in the introduction, this command was designed to modify the time a player must be away-from-keyword for to drop the bomb. This time is expressed in seconds, and you need to use it as the argument of the command to modify it accordingly.

By default, this command is set at “15”, which means a player will drop the bomb after being AFK for 15 seconds. This is the baseline, from which you can reduce or increase the AFK tolerance time.

This command will allow you to moderate the game, especially if you’re dealing with players who like to remain AFK on purpose. You can severely reduce the standard value of the AFK bomb drop to keep the game fast paced and active.

This command is available in both CS:GO and CS2, and despite sharing the “sv” beat with other commands known as cheat codes, sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time doesn’t require you to activate “sv_cheats 1” beforehand.

Now that you have a proper overview on the bomb AFK drop command, let’s see what requirements you must meet if you want to use it in the game.

Requirements To use the Command

Before you can execute this command via console in CS:GO and CS2, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must have admin rights because this is a server command
  • You must have activated the developer console to input this command

Having admin rights is non negotiable, because this command directly alters the normal configuration of the server. Therefore, you can only use it if you’re the admin or host. You can do it by creating your own game in CS2, or by setting up your own CS:GO dedicated server.

In case you don’t know how to activate the developer console, here’s now:

  1. Launch CS:GO
  2. Navigate to “Settings”
  3. Click on “Game”
  4. Navigate to the option to activate the developer console
  5. Set it to “Yes”

You can use the sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time and other commands now, and all you need to do is to press the “~” key to launch the developer console and input any command of your choice.

Now that you have everything that’s needed to execute the command, let’s see how you can do it in the next section.

How to Use the Command

Now, let’s see how you can use this command in your CS:GO and CS2 matches:

  1. Press “~” to open the console
  2. Input sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time
  3. Use the AFK time expressed in seconds as the argument
  4. Press “Enter”

As you can see, using this command is pretty easy. However, if you’d like to check more examples on how it’s implemented, check the next section.

Examples on How to Use the sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time Command

The best way to thoroughly learn how to use the command is by checking real life examples on how it’s implemented, and this is exactly what you’re going to find below.

Set Drop Time to 3 Seconds

If you want to be pretty strict with AFK players, you can set the drop time to 3 seconds, resulting in the following: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 3. Input it via console, press “Enter”, and if a T player goes AFK for 3 seconds, it will drop the bomb instantly.

Set Drop Time to 5 Seconds

If you wish to make a player drop the bomb if it goes AFK for 5 seconds, you need to input the following via console: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 5. Press “Enter”, and it will establish this new configuration immediately.

Set Drop Time to 10 Seconds

If you want to just reduce the drop time by 5 seconds, you need to use “10” as the argument of the command to set the AFK drop time at 10 seconds, resulting in the following: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 10. Press “Enter” and it will work automatically.

Set Drop Time to 20 Seconds

If you don’t want to be so harsh with AFK players, and give them more time to become active again, you can set it at 20 seconds, resulting in the following: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 20. Press “Enter” and this new configuration will work instantly.

Set Drop Time to 30 Seconds

If you want to increase the standard drop time by 100%, you need to use “30” as the argument of the command, resulting in the following: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 30. Input it via console, press “Enter” and the drop time will be adjusted accordingly.

Set Drop Time to 1 Minute

If you want to bring players up to 1 minute AFK before they drop the bomb, you need to use “60” as the argument of the command, resulting in the following: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 60. Now a player can remain up to 1 minute away from the keyword before dropping the bomb automatically.

Set AFK Bomb Drop Time to 2 Minutes

If you want to bring up to 2 minutes being AFK before they’re forced to drop the bomb automatically, you need to express this time in seconds, resulting in “120”. Hence, you need to input the following via console: sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 120. Press “Enter” and the new configuration will be executed instantly.

Reset the Command Back to Default

If you wish to reset the command back to default, you need to use the default value, “15”, as the argument. Input sv_spawn_afk_bomb_drop_time 15 via console, press “Enter” and it will restore the bomb drop timer back to default.
