Third Person Command Help & Examples

It is no news that perspective or camera mode matters a whole lot in a first-person shooter game like CS:GO. Although most players would naturally play in the default first-person view, CS:GO allows you to switch to a third-person view if you wish to.

While the first-person view may provide you with a more accurate and immersive gaming experience, the third-person view may be more suitable if you are creating gaming content or just want to explore a fresh perspective of the game.

How then do you go into this third-person mode? The third-person mode is not available by default, hence you need to use CS:GO third-person commands on your console to switch.

How To Switch To Third-Person Mode

For you to view CS:GO from a third-person angle, you will need the following commands;

  1. Changing to the third-person view

The most important command is to toggle the first-person view to the third-person view. To do this;

Enter “thirdperson” into the console.

This automatically changes your game view to the third-person view.

  1. Adjusting camera distance

Luckily, you can adjust camera distance too, that is, how far the camera is from your character. To do this;

Enter “cam_idealdist X”into the console. Where X is the distance you prefer.

For example, to set the distance to 100, the command will be “cam_idealdist 100”.

  1. Changing camera angle

You use this command to adjust how much the camera lags behind your character’s movement. To do this;

Enter “cam_ideallag X” into the console. Where X is the value of how much lag you want.

For example, to set the lag to 0.1, the command will be “cam_ideallag 0.1”.

Conclusion

You should take advantage of the CS:GO third-person commands if you wish to engage in creating content, analysing gameplay and tactics, or if you just want to explore the perspective.

With these commands, you can easily switch and adjust view specifications to suit your preference. However, note that the third-person view is only available for casual games, and not competitive matches.
