voice_unmute Command Help & Examples
Distractions can seriously affect your CS:GO gameplay, regardless of where they come from. In high-intensity pro matches, literally every movement and millisecond counts, so losing the focus due to someone being unruly over the microphone is a great way to induce rage.
Enter the ‘mute’ option, which has several different versions. Players who have toxic and disruptive behavior often get muted, and not just in a single CS:GO game. They might earn globally muted status, meaning they enter games on mute.
While this is a great way of dealing with immediate in-game voice distractions, at the end of the day, CSGO is a co-op game requiring contact. No matter how many key binds you to have for chat prompts, talking is the best way of communicating, which means you will also need to know how to use csgo unmute all commands and how to mute specific or all players in a match.
Unmuting Players in CS:GO
Whenever the need arises to let a muted player in on the conversation, you should be able to unmute them fairly easily. Before exploring CS:GO unmute commands, though, think about the reason why someone earned to be muted in the first place, and whether, and for how long, you’re going to keep them unmuted.
There are several different ways of unmuting players, mostly dependent on how they got muted in the first place. To begin with, you don’t have to be an admin to mute any player in a match or even all of them if you find that they are affecting your focus.
Unmuting them usually requires reversing the action you took to mute them, but in some instances, this doesn’t work. It may be due to a bug or a global mute setting a player has as a result of their behavior. Let’s explore several ways you can unmute people in CS:GO.
Using the ‘voice_unmute’ Command
Arguably, the best way to be in control of mute and unmute players that do not require you to leave the game. You will need to use your best tool when it comes to prompt commands in CS:GO – the developer console. You also need to know some specific csgo unmute all commands.
The command that unmutes players via the developer console is ‘voice_unmute’. However, this is not enough to unmute a specific player or players, as you need to designate them clearly in addition to the command.
For example, if you want to unmute player number 3, you need to add the number to the command prompt: ‘voice_unmute 3’. The specific player is no longer on mute and can join the voice chat.
This command only works when you’ve previously used a command to mute that specific player or a global command to mute all players. The command is ‘voice_mute’ and is followed by the player’s number.
If you’re wondering how to figure out a specific player’s number, there is, of course, a command for that as well. Typing the ‘voice_show_mute’ command allows you to find out who is muted and the player’s number.
Alternatively, you can use ‘voice_unmute’ commands to affect all players rather than a specific individual. For example, you can add ‘all’ instead of a number at the end of the command, like this ‘‘voice_unmute all’ to unmute everyone in the match immediately.
Finally, if you’re ready to resume play as is, you can simply reset all mutes using the ‘voice_reset_mutelist’ command in the developer console. You can mute and unmute everyone in a game, regardless of team.
A useful tip to consider if you find yourself muting and unmuting all players or specific annoying individuals is to set key binds that allow you to input the mute and unmute commands with the press of just one button.
Unmute Using the ‘Settings’ Menu
An alternative to using csgo unmute all commands is to toggle the mute/unmute option directly from the game’s settings menu or the scoreboard:
- Access the ‘Settings’ menu
- Navigate to the ‘Audio’ tab
- Toggle ‘Enable Voice Communication’
Now you’re all set to resume play with the default communication settings of CS:GO. Remember that you can also mute someone (intentionally or not) via the scoreboard. Right-clicking a player’s name will display the ‘Unmute” option if this is the case.
How To Unmute Globally Muted Players In Demos
Finally, let’s address globally muted players. You cannot unmute these in a match unless you’re the server admin. However, in demo play, you can remove their restrictions, but it is not easy.
Without going into too much detail, you’ll need to find and modify the .dem file using Notepad, aiming to replace the ‘HasCommunicationAbuesMute’ data, which stores the global mute information with something else.
You can figure out who has a global mute restriction by using the command ‘cl_sanitize_muted_players 0’ in CS:GO. It displayed the names and avatars of globally muted players.
