Step One: Accessing the Game Menu

You can change the difficulty setting of the bots in CS2 as follows: First, open a game menu. To do this, go to the main screen after you start the game.

Step Two: Opening Your Console 

To open the console, press the ~ key on your keyboard (this may not work if you have changed your keyboard layout). You should turn it on first in the game settings. 

To do this, go to the system settings, click the ‘Game’ tab, and turn on ‘Enable Developer Console (~)’ to ‘Yes.’

Step Three: Using Console Commands

When you open the console, you can control the bot’s difficulty with these commands. 

The command to change bot difficulty is “bot_difficulty X”

This command tells you how hard the task is on a scale of 0 (easiest) to 3 (hardest): 

• 0 = Easy
• 1 = Normal
• 2 = Hard
• 3 = Expert

For example, if you want to set the bot difficulty to Expert, you would type into the console: bot_difficulty 3

Step Four: Adding Bots with Specific Difficulty

Along with the global difficulty setting, you can add bots of a particular difficulty directly to the game by typing in bot_add_t or bot_add_ct.

These commands add the specified number of bots to the Terrorist (bot_add_t) or Counter-Terrorist (bot_add_ct) side, respectively. The bots added will use the difficulty specified with the bot_difficulty command.

Step Five: Fine-Tuning Bot Behavior

CS2 also lets you modify other aspects of bot behavior to hone your practice sessions, such as:

• bot_quota X: Sets the number of bots in the game.
• bot_stop 1: Makes all bots stop moving, helpful in practicing aim.
• bot_kick: Kicks all bots from the game.
