How To Enable Grenade Throw Trajectory & Camera Preview

In Counter-Strike 2, you can now see where a grenade shot will land by previewing its path in the game. With this addition, you won't have to use special maps or community servers.
However, small changes that improve life, like using grenade previews to practice using smoke or other projectiles without downloading workshop files, are also big improvements over the previous version. The CS2 grenade cam command is one such improvement, making it easier to master utility throws.
Counter-Strike 2 has a menu option that lets players turn on the grenade demo feature while in warmup mode. It shows a smaller window pop-up in the bottom left corner of the screen that correctly shows where the grenade would land. In addition, a separate crosshair shows exactly where it is.

After throwing the bomb, the tiny window camera tracks its path. This makes it easier to judge throws when learning new smokes or getting better at what you already know.
The preview only worked for warmup and practice modes. It wouldn't help you play the game online or in a competitive setting. However, it does a lot for beginners.

How to Get Better at CS2 Grenades: Nades, Smokes, and Flashes

Perhaps the most important part of professional CS2 is utility. To improve at the game, you must master lineups and execute them correctly and at the right time in real-life situations.

You can’t just learn grenade setups by playing the game, though, like you can with some FPS skills. You have to practice on your own. You can learn how to use grenades in CS2 by doing the following:

Set up a map to fight bots

You should set up a practice game against bots. To do this, go to Play, then Practice, and pick the map you want to use to work on your teams.

You should practice teams for all your maps to improve your skills. Begin by learning one map at a time. Add additional maps until you know how to line up every current duty soldier!

Got to Practice > Grenade Camera, Infinite Ammo, and Infinite Warmup.

To set up the best grenade practice area in CS2, you must enter these commands into your developer console:

  • sv_cheats 1
  • Bot_kick
  • mp_limitteams 0
  • mp_autoteambalance 0
  • mp_maxmoney 60000
  • mp_startmoney 60000
  • mp_buytime 9999

To help you improve your use of grenades in CS2, we’ve created two groups of commands you can paste into your developer console:

sv_cheats 1; bot_kick; mp_limitteams 0; mp_autoteambalance 0; mp_maxmoney 60000; mp_startmoney 60000; mp_buytime 9999; mp_buy_anywhere 1; mp_freezetime 0 ;mp_roundtime 60; sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview true

mp_roundtime_defuse 60; mp_respawn_on_death_ct 1; mp_respawn_on_death_t 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; sv_showimpacts 1; sv_showimpacts_time 10; ammo_grenade_limit_total 5; mp_warmup_end; mp_restartgame 1;

There is a way to save these commands so you don’t have to type them all out whenever you want to practice your CS2 grenade lineups. Create a configuration using these commands, and you’re good to go.

Watch YouTube lineup tutorials

There are a lot of CS2 lineup lessons on YouTube that you could watch. Search for (Name of Map) Lineups. With this simple act, you can find a lot of awesome tutorials with CT-Side and T-Side lineups for bombsites and pretty much everywhere else. For example, you can find CS2 smoke practice commands to enhance your skills.

A much better option exists CS2.app, a brand-new website by the popular YouTuber NartOutHere. This page has easy-to-use tools and strategies. What a great addition to the tools already out there.

Practice

Now that you’ve applied these commands, you can purchase all grenades available from the buy menu and throw them as many times as you want; they won’t leave your player after the first throw. If you throw a grenade, the game will show a path behind it.

To fly and follow the grenade, type “noclip” into the console (since CS2 doesn’t have a “follow grenade” bind yet). You should link a key to noclip so it’s easy to enter and leave flight mode.

Don’t give up on learning lineups; simply because you managed to do it successfully once doesn’t mean you’ll be able to do it right every time.
