How To Find Fade Percentage Values Of CS2 Skins

The Fade family is one of the most sought-after Counter-Strike skin lineups in the game, especially when it comes to knife skins. Fade skins have been painted using airbrushing transparent paint that fade together over a chrome base coat, making it one of the liveliest and most colorful skins in the game.

Introduction

However, you might not know that Fade skins differ from each other, as there are a thousand Fade patterns that determine the percentage values of the skin, in other words, how colorful it is. In this article, we’ll explain everything you need to know about Fade percentages as well as other relevant information.

What Are Fade Percentages in CS2?

The term “Fade percentage” wasn’t created by Valve, but instead, was created by community members. Like Case Hardened skins, Fade skins also have pattern indexes that alter the way the skin looks. Depending on pattern indexes, Fade skins have various percentage values that determine how “faded” or colorful the skin is.

Fade skins consist of three primary colors, which are blue (purple), red (pink), and yellow (gold), but also feature gray as a secondary color. Gray colors only appear in low Fade percentage skins, as it makes up for the absent blue, red, or yellow colors. So, a high Fade skin will barely show any gray.

Like numerous Counter-Strike skins, each Fade skin has 1001 patterns. When you unbox a Fade skin, the game will automatically give it a random pattern out of the 1001, which is what you would call a pattern index. The appearance of a Fade knife varies from pattern to pattern, which is why Fade percentages are used to measure its value.

Valve won’t scam players with Fade skins with 0%s, so the lowest Fade value is generally 80%. So, a low Fade skin would be 80% or a little higher, and a Full fade skin would ideally be 99 to 100%.

Obviously, a high Fade skin would be priced higher than low Fades, but the price difference isn’t as significant as Case Hardened or Doppler skins. Collectors are always willing to overpay for full Fades, but the price difference between an 80% and a 100% wouldn’t be more than $100 to $200.

How to Check Fade Percentage CS2

How to Check Fade Percentage CS2

In the Counter-Strike client, you can always inspect your skin and hover over the information menu to see your skin’s pattern index seed. However, this pattern doesn’t really tell you anything about the skin’s Fade percentage. The only way to check a skin’s Fade percentage is through using third-party websites.

The most prominent marketplace websites are equipped with complete information on Counter-Strike skins. So, platforms such as CS.Money or BUFF163 will always display the Fade percentage on any Fade weapon skin. These websites use advanced image pixel analysis tools to get an accurate reading of Fade percentages.

When you see a Fade skin on these marketplace websites, you might see a percentage value somewhere on the skin’s information which is the Fade percentage you are looking for.

You can easily check the Fade percentages for Fade knives listed on the website’s marketplace, but checking your own knife skin will require additional steps.

The first way is to get your skin’s inspect link and find the specific knife using it. The easier method is to log in to the marketplace website, ensure your Steam Inventory is set to public, and check the Fade percentage value once the website displays the skins in your inventory.

Keep in mind that Fade skins having the same pattern index does not mean they have the same Fade value. The patterns differ between different weapons and knives, so ensure to use these third-party websites to confirm the percentages.

Looking at the table above, it is interesting that Karambits and Talon Knives have the same pattern seeds. However, eight knives also share the same patterns. There are less than 50 patterns for each weapon or knife that represent a 99 to 100% Fade percentage, so there is less than a 0.5% chance of pulling one. Despite such low odds, the overpay for these Full Fade knives isn’t too high and is nowhere near the comparison for Blue Gem Case Hardened skins.

Special Cases For Fade Knives

On top of 1001 different patterns, Fade knives get more interesting as there are two special cases.

Fade Extends to Handles on Falchion Knives

We have just discussed that a Full Fade knife is one with 99 or 100% Fade percentages, but there are some people throwing the term “110%”. This term is only applicable to Falchion Knives, as the Fade skin can also cover the knife’s handle. So, a Falchion Knife with a faded handle and a great overall pattern is often referred to as a 110% Fade percentage.

No Gray Colors on Karambits and Talon Knives

Earlier, we learned that Karambits and Talon Knives share the same pattern indexes since they are the only claw-shaped knives in the game. However, things get deeper as the two knives do not display gray colors at lower Fade percentages. So, you don’t have to be too picky when selecting a Karambit or Talon Knife Fade in a marketplace website.
