Which MacOS Devices Can Run CS:GO?

Despite the fact that the M1 and M2 chips aren’t specifically designed to fit the game requirements, CS:GO/CS2 runs flawlessly on Apple Silicon Mac devices. For older devices, the minimum specs that your device needs in order to run the game smoothly include: 

  • OS: macOS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or above.
  • Processor: Intel Core Duo Processor (2GHz) or above.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA 8600M or ATI Radeon HD 2400 or above.
  • Memory: 2GB RAM or above.
  • Storage: A minimum of 15GB of free memory.

The Obvious Fix

Of course, the obvious fix to an issue like this would be to access the Game Settings within the CS:GO menu and change the Display Mode to Fullscreen. That was ours, as well as many other players’ first instinct. Unfortunately, in most cases, it seemed to be ineffective, as nothing changes when making the switch. So, is there another solution, and what is it?

  • Open the Steam application on your Mac. 
  • In the top corner of the app click on the Library tab 
  • Locate your game library on the left side of your screen. 
  • Go through your games list until you find Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Right-click on your CS:GO and select Properties, after which a window will pop up on the screen. 
  • Click on Set Launch Options in the General tab, after which another pop-up window will appear. 
  • Type in the command -fullscreen in the empty field and click OK. 
  • Close the CS:GO properties tab and launch the game. 
  • You are now in full screen and ready to perform the best one-taps of your life.
