How To Show FPS In CS:GO

In competitive games like CS:GO, Valorant, COD, PUBG, and other shooters, having the highest possible FPS is a necessity. Mostly because the game feels smoother, which means players can hit their shots easily. What really happens in the background is that more frames reduce the total system latency, which means player inputs are registered earlier.

In Counter-Strike, the increase or decrease in latency is very obvious, so many players are chasing to push their FPS as high as possible. But, how to display FPS in CS:GO?
Well, there are a couple of ways to see your FPS in CS:GO and CS2, so let’s have a look at all the options.
1

CS:GO Show FPS Command

The easiest way to set up a FPS counter is by using the in-game command. Here is one of the commands for an FPS counter:

cl_showfps 1

With this command, you will get a small green FPS counter in the top-left corner of your screen. This one can be very hard to read as it’s quite small and quickly changing, so let’s have a look at a different solution. But first, you can disable this FPS counter with the following command:

cl_showfps 0

With it off, you can now try the following command:

net_graph 1

This will appear at the bottom of your screen and will show your current FPS as well as many other useful (or useless) information such as ping, loss, choke, var, tick rate, and more. While there is definitely more information to look at when compared to “cl_showfps”, its color and size fit better into the game, so it’s not as distracting.

CS2 Show FPS Command

In Counter-Strike 2, there is no option to use “net_graph 1/0”, but cl_showfps 1/0 can still be used. However, in CS2, the FPS counter from the latter command is much worse compared to CS2. It’s much more distracting, especially if you are playing on a lower resolution.

Fortunately, there is a better built-in solution for showing FPS in CS2. To enable it, go into the CS2 Main Menu, and from there click on the cogwheel icon (top-left) to open the Settings Menu. From there, look for the Telemetry tab and click on it.

Here, you will see a bunch of options, so here’s a brief description of what each one does:

  • Show frame time and FPS – to show the FPS counter, you will want to select Always on this one.
  • Frame time warning threshold – this allows you to adjust when the FPS counter throws out a warning when the frame time dips.
  • Show ping – shows your current ping. It can be useful to set this to Always as well, but keep in mind that you also have a ping counter in the scoreboard.
  • Show packet loss/misdelivery – this shows the amount of data lost when communicating with the server. You don’t really need this one, so you can either keep it at Never or If conditions are poor.
  • Packet misdelivery warning threshold – threshold when you get a warning for high packet loss.

CS:GO Show FPS Through Steam

One of the best ways to have an eye over your FPS for any game is through Steam’s FPS counter.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can enable it:

  1. Open Steam
  2. Click on the Steam logo in the top-left corner and select Settings.
  3. In the settings menu that just opened, find the In Game option on the left side.
  4. Turn on the Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game option.
  5. Find the In-game FPS counter option and select in which corner the FPS should be.

And that’s it! You can also enable the In-game FPS counter high contrast option so you can better see the FPS counter. Now start CS:GO, look at the corner you chose and check if you can see the FPS counter.

If you can’t see it, try restarting CS or Steam.

4

Show FPS Through GeForce Experience

This option is available only to users with an NVIDIA GPU.

If you have GeForce Experience installed alongside your GPU driver then you can use the built-in FPS counter.

Here’s how you can use it in CS:GO:

  1. Open GeForce Experience and click the cogwheel in the top-right corner to open the settings.
  2. While in the General tab, scroll a bit down until you see In-Game Overlay, and make sure it’s turned on/enabled.
  3. With the overlay now enabled, go into CS:GO and hit Alt+R to enable the FPS counter.

That’s all you need to do! If the FPS doesn’t show up, you can press Alt+Z to open the overlay and then go into Performance where you can customize your FPS counter.
