The Most Expensive Knives In CS: Top 10

In the CS:GO (CS2) economy, skins can sell for a fortune if they have a rare pattern, and the perfect example of this are the most expensive knives in CS. We have group the top 10 most valuable CS2 knives in existence, to explore the premium land of extremely valuable and rare items.
We’ll include both knives that have already been sold, and others that are still waiting for the right offer and buyer to migrate to a new inventory.

1

#1 - Karambit | Case Hardened #387 (Blue Gem)

Here we have the most expensive knife in CS:GO, and also the most valuable skin ever. Valued at $1,500,000, it ranks at the spot #1 in our ranking, and it’s all thanks to the features that make it one-of-its-kind:

  • It’s the unique Karambit Blue Gem with the pattern #387 and rated as Factory New in the world, making it an extremely rare item
  • It’s stunningly beautiful thanks to its spotless blue playside, and hence considered as the ultimate Blue Gem Karambit (the best possible pattern)
  • The chances of unboxing such a knife from case opening is nearly impossible, with odds lower than 0.001% as there are several factors coming into play: gold-rated drop, specific pattern and low float value.

It belongs to the collector and trader known as Newb Rage (青い王), and he has owned it since 2016 after he got lucky enough to unbox it with an extremely low float value, which contributes to its gigantic price tag.

The owner has already declined offers to sell it for $1.2M and the highest current bid at $1.5M, and it must be because he believes he’ll be able to sell it for a higher price in the future. Nobody knows, but in the CS:GO economy, anything can happen.

#2 - Karambit | Case Hardened #853 (Blue Gem)

Next, we have again the Blue Gem Karambit, but this time with the pattern #853. This example in particular is priced at over $230,000, and it has already been sold once, proving there are traders and collectionists ready to pay such a high price tag. It’s also important to consider it was rated as Factory New, which contributed to its extraordinary price.

If another Karambit of such characteristics hits the market, or with a float value lower than 0.037, we can expect it to be valued and sell for more than $230,000 USD.

The pattern #853 is Tier 1, but when compared to the pattern #387, it has slightly less blue on the playside, and this factor is enough to decrease its value when compared to the most expensive CS:GO knife ever.

3

#3 - Talon Knife | Case Hardened (Blue Gem)

As you can see, blue gem patterns are highly sought after, and hence they’re the most valuable when it comes to CS knives, and the Talon Knife | Case Hardened with the pattern #923 is a prime example of it, making it one of the most valuable knives at over $220,000 USD. And it’s already been sold once in December (2023), proving there’s a demand for extremely rare blue gem knives besides the classic Karambit Case Hardened.

This example in particular had an extremely low float value, rating it as Factory New. Therefore, if another Talon Knife of this kind hits the market, it’s highly probable it will sell for $220,000 or even more.

Therefore, if a Talon Knife has a valid blue gem pattern, especially if it’s Tier 1 (55, 923, 241, 602, 899, 316, 180, 222, 528, 10 or 837), it will sell for plenty of overpay, even more if it has a low float value that allows it to be rated as Factory New or Minimal Wear.

As such, it’s possible to find Talon Knife skins in different marketplaces selling for $10,000 or more, making it one of the most overall valuable knives in CS:GO nowadays.

4

#4 - Karambit | Case Hardened #387 Field Tested (Blue Gem)

Here we have the other side of the coin, a Karambit Case Hardened with the pattern #387, but with a higher float value than the $1.5M Karambit. Due to this factor it’s less valuable, but it’s still priced at $169,000 USD, and in fact, a transaction of this kind has already been registered.

This is enough to show there’s demand for extremely rare and expensive knives, because there are collectionists with deep pockets ready to buy them.

And the fact that float value can drive up the price so much, as it’s reflected by the $1.5M CS2 knife, is also enough to show how relevant this factor is, because the less wear and tear it has, the more beautiful it will be.

5

#5 - Skeleton Knife | Case Hardened (Blue Gem)

Blue Gems really make the rankings, and now we have the Skeleton Knife Case Hardened with the pattern #403, one of the most valuable seeds for this type of knife with this specific finish. If it has a low float value – be it Factory New or Minimal Wear, it can be sold for as high as $100,000 USD.

A transaction of this kind was registered in 2021. The lucky unboxer sold it for $4,000 (big mistake), and the new owner, along with a popular CS:GO YouTuber and streamer, managed to sell it for $100,000 in a record-breaking sale.

Therefore, if another Skeleton Knife with these features hits the market, it’s pretty much guaranteed it will sell for a similar price. And if you explore the different CS:GO marketplaces and trading sites, you’ll find Blue Gem Skeleton Knife skins sell for over $10,000 if it has a rare pattern like the #403.

6

#6 - M9 Bayonet | Gamma Doppler (Emerald)

Gamma Doppler knives are highly valuable, and the M9 Bayonet | Gamma Doppler with the Emerald rating is a perfect example of this, because it can be sold for approximately $19,000, as long as it has a low float value, hence rated as Factory New or Minimal Wear.

Therefore, it’s one of the most expensive knives in the game, especially since it can surpass the $20,000 mark if it has an extremely low float value, as evidenced by a listing on Loot.farm.

7

#7 - Butterfly Knife | Doppler (Sapphire)

In the world of knives, even though none can be as valuable as a Blue Gem, especially if it’s Factory New and Karambit, there’s still space for other highly expensive knives, such as the Butterfly Knife | Doppler Sapphire.

If it’s factory new, a Butterfly Knife Doppler Sapphire can cost as much as $15,000 USD. Therefore, we had to include it in this ranking, and if it’s rated as StatTrak, we can expect to sell for even more money.

For example, there’s a listing on Bitskins.com selling a Sapphire Butterfly Knife for $20,000 USD, because it has an extremely low float value: 0.0096. Based on this, the price of a skin can increase significantly, as it’s the case for this CS knife.

8

#8 - Skeleton Knife | Crimson Web

Crimson Web knives can be pretty valuable as well, because if we explore the history of CS:GO, we will find that a M9 Bayonet | Crimson Web was sold for over $26,000 in 2014, even though it’s not as valuable nowadays. Instead, we have the Skeleton Knife | Crimson Web, which is in the range of $7,000 to $12,000 if it ‘s Factory New, however this is still a lot of money.

Thanks to this fact, the Skeleton Knife | Crimson Web has earned its spot in this ranking, because if you’re lucky enough to unbox it, and it has a low float value and is rated as StatTrak, it’s possible to sell it for nearly $13,000 or more.

If you’re wondering why a Talon Knife Doppler Sapphire sells for a maximum of $7,000 to $8,000, whereas a Blue Gem Talon Knife can sell for as much as $220,000 USD, the difference is in the finish and pattern. Simply put, Blue Gem knives are more valuable than Sapphire knives because they’re rarer and more beautiful according to collectionis

9

#9 - M9 Bayonet | Doppler (Ruby)

Doppler knives always make the rankings because traders and collectionists are paying top dollars for knives with this finish, and the M9 Bayonet rated as Ruby, is a clear example of this. Because according to the Steam Marketplace, and third-party CS:GO trading sites, this beautiful weapon is selling in the range of $8,000 to $13,000 if it has a low float value, hence rated as Factory New or Minimal Wear.

Evidently, some collectionists, traders and players are ready to pay a lot of money for this skin because it has a beautiful look, resembling a real ruby.

Since it’s very rare to get from Chroma cases, the M9 Bayonet | Doppler Ruby has a high price. Some traders have already paid a lot for this skin, showing that there’s strong demand in this price range.

10

#10 - Talon Knife | Doppler (Sapphire)

Once again, we have a Doppler knife here, now a Talon Knife rated as a Sapphire thanks to its vibrant blue color. If you’re lucky enough to unbox this rare skin, you can expect to sell it for as much as $7,000 to $8,000 if it’s Factory New and rated as StatTrak. And the lower its float value is, the higher the overpay will be.

If you’re wondering why a Talon Knife Doppler Sapphire sells for a maximum of $7,000 to $8,000, whereas a Blue Gem Talon Knife can sell for as much as $220,000 USD, the difference is in the finish and pattern. Simply put, Blue Gem knives are more valuable than Sapphire knives because they’re rarer and more beautiful according to collectionists, traders and the community. These are the reasons for the massive difference in prices.

Why Can CS:GO Knives Be So Expensive?

CS:GO knives can be pretty expensive, as high as $1,500,000, due to the following reasons:

  • Knives are extremely hard to unbox from CS:GO cases, because they’re rated as an Exceedingly Rare Special drop, hence your chances of obtaining it are 0.26%, which means, in theory, you’ll get a shot at getting one for every 391 cases you open
  • As if it wasn’t enough, it’s totally unpredictable what pattern or finish a knife will get when opening cases, making it even harder to obtain a rare knife, be it a Blue Gem, Emerald, Ruby or Sapphire. According to statistics, the chances of dropping such knives is lower than 0.001%
  • And now we also have to factor in the float value… which is again random and the chances of dropping a Factory New, which is the epitome, is even harder. Considering this, it’s easy to see why a rare knife rated as Factory New will sell for several thousands of dollars or even over $1M, because the chances of obtaining it are extremely low. It’s easier to build and hit a 10-leg UFC parlay bet than unboxing a skin of this type
  • Players, collectionists and traders LOVE knives, hence there’s a lot of demand for them, and consequently, this factor can drive up the price a lot, bringing us outstanding examples such as the Blue Gem Karambit #387 Factory new.

Considering all of these factors and reasons, now it should be 100% clear why knives sell for a lot of money in CS:GO, as long as they meet two specific requirements: rare patterns and a low float value.
